Bulgarian Farmers can apply for funds for developing small scale milk processing plants

From 25 March to 15 April 2020, farmers may apply for aid under the State aid scheme "Investments for the purchase or construction of raw milk processing and / or processing establishments". Documents will be accepted at the Regional Directorates of the State Agricultural Fund at the place where the project activity is carried out.

  The purpose of the aid is to help small and medium-sized farmers and producer organizations to process and sell their produce on the farmers' markets themselves and thereby increase their income.

   The scheme reimburses up to 50% of the investment costs incurred and the maximum amount of aid is up to BGN 60,000. or processing of raw milk with the necessary equipment (mini dairies) or purchase of a temporary retail establishment for processing and / or processing of raw milk with the necessary equipment (transportable modular objects that can be transported ). The funds will be paid to the applicant's bank account after proving the completion of the investment.

   The approved budget under the scheme for 2020 by the Managing Board of the State Fund of Agriculture is BGN 1 452 500. It will finance the commitments made under concluded contracts from 2019 amounting to nearly 720 thousand BGN, as well as the approved projects from the forthcoming new State aid scheme for 2020.

   Applicants under the scheme may be farmers registered under Regulation No 3 of 29 January 1999 for a period of at least 3 (three) years from the date of application, as well as organizations and producer groups recognized by order of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Farmers should also be registered under Ordinance No. 26 on the specific requirements for the direct supply of small quantities of raw materials and food of animal origin.

  The scheme was developed on the proposal of the branch organizations in the dairy sector and is being applied for the second consecutive year. The instructions and application documents are published on the website of the State Agricultural Fund.
