The Management Board of the State Fund "Agriculture" distributed BGN 5 million under the de minimis scheme to assist Bulgarian greenhouse producers in the sale of fresh vegetables produced by them. The aid is part of the measures introduced by the state as relief for farmers due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Financial support will be provided to food outlets. They must give consumers direct access to fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers produced in greenhouses. The funds will compensate part of the costs of the retail outlets for transport, logistics and sale of fresh Bulgarian vegetables, greenhouse production in the retail network in 2020.

Support will be provided to local chains that have at least three sites in one or more neighboring administrative districts. They will be the link between producers and consumers. The retail outlets will buy fresh greenhouse vegetables - tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, will sort them, pack and sell them.

The unit support rate provided for retail outlets is BGN 600 for tomatoes, BGN 400 for cucumbers and BGN 800 for peppers. The calculation includes part of the cost per tonne that the aid applicant will incur for bringing the production into commercial form.

Only farmers who have submitted applications under the coupled support scheme for greenhouse vegetables for Campaign 2019 and have been identified as eligible have the right to offer production at the outlets. The objects for trade must be registered under art. 12 of the Food Act and to be entered in the public register of the BFSA. In order to receive the funds, they must prove to the Agriculture Fund with invoices that they have bought the produce from the farmers. The instructions on state aid and the accompanying registers will be published on the website of the State Fund for Agriculture.
