The Management Board of the State Fund for Agriculture approved BGN 56,580,000 under the state aid scheme "Aid to support the liquidity of farmers engaged in primary agricultural production to overcome the consequences of the negative economic impact of COVID-19" .

At the end of August, the European Commission approved the state aid, which will support agricultural producers - livestock, small and small ruminants and potato producers who have deferred their loans provided by the State Fund "Agriculture" in the period 2008-2012 and are unable to repay them in the context of the COVID pandemic 19.

The support will take the form of direct grants covering part of the principal and interest due on loans already granted to SFA farmers in the period 2008-2012. The aim is to meet the liquidity needs of farmers and to help them continue their activities during and after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The amount of aid per farmer is up to 100,000 euros. The deadline for implementing the aid is 31 December 2020.

Aid to cover part of the costs of loans, regularly deferred until 27.11.2020, will be farmers registered under Ordinance от 3 of January 29, 1999. A total of 1,882 farmers are eligible for support, of which 1,798 breeders raising large and small ruminants and 84 potato growers. Producers who do not have due public obligations to the state budget are subject to financing.

The SFA, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, is to prepare the instructions for granting the aid.
