InteliFresh 2020 Business Forum begins today

Παρασκευή 31 Ιαν 2020
With the increase of investments and lands with fruits and vegetables, the Bulgarian market is gradually and surely going back to native production. This not only puts pressure on prices, but it creates a risk for the sale of products. In addition, despite the rise in the standard of living in major cities, the internal market is still undeveloped . This situation outlines the only prospect for producers - if they want to earn and grow their agribusiness, they need to focus their production on exports.

During the business forum, manufacturers will be able to meet and negotiate deals and partnerships with representatives of large chains, as well as with leading Bulgarian traders. There will also be a large Swiss merchant in the B2B meeting area, which, in addition to its own market, trades conventional and bioproducts in Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Poland and more. In addition to the fresh produce market, emphasis is also placed on processing sales - the largest processor of cherries and other fruits in Bulgaria is involved.

However, in a highly competitive environment, taking positions on foreign markets is an extremely complex and demanding process. In order for this to happen, production must be fully tailored to demand in terms of both quality and competitive prices and fair trade relationships. And to build such production, the first step is to get to know these markets. For this purpose the IntelAgro Foundation will present a specialized analysis of the European markets and the place of Bulgaria in them. It covers cherries, plums, apricots, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. On January 31, farmers will be able to obtain valuable information on the largest importers in the EU and what their market window is; At what prices do they import their products into the Member States of the Community; Where does EU fresh produce come from and at what prices; What are the requirements of the European market for fresh produce; How does the Bulgarian exports develop and What are the markets for native produce and at what prices it is exported.

The organizers' analysis outlines some key conclusions: There is still no steady upward trend in the export of Bulgarian fruits and vegetables, despite the prolonged growth in the area. With some vegetables, our country has good positions in Central and Eastern Europe, and their export prices are close to those in Western Europe. Bulgarian production is still within 0.5% of the imports of large importing countries into the EU, which means that there is huge potential that we have yet to learn to use. At the same time, the Bulgarian production window largely coincides with the peak in the import window in large EU buyers.

IntelFresh is organized in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands.
