The University of Food Technology in Plovdiv will become an associate member of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This was agreed at a meeting by the rector Prof. Plamen Mollov and the chairman Tsvetan Simeonov.

The two countries also plan on exchanging experience, knowledge and innovations between professors and business representatives, as well as the organization of educational and scientific conferences and seminars. BCCI and UFT will partner up in the training of competent young people in the food technology. For this purpose, the opportunity for representatives of BCCI member companies to be lecturers at the university, as well as students to visit the companies that are members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was commented.

Joining UFT is an expression of our desire to offer our students a hands-on, focused education that will prepare them to work from the student bench, Prof Mollov said after the meeting.

We hope that our partnership will shorten the path of young people to start working for the Bulgarian economy, for which one of the most serious problems is the lack of highly skilled workforce - our students are becoming smaller and a considerable number leave their country after graduation, Simeonov commented.

The university will strive to be one of the most active educational institutions in Bulgaria in order to meet the real needs of the business and the need for well-trained staff in various fields, said the rector.
